Wateq provides the highest quality nitrate reduction units, all utilising Clack control valves, premium grade anion selective resin and high-quality mineral tanks.

Elevated nitrate levels are common in rural areas, in particular during the winter and autumnal months as a result of pesticides and fertilisers being washed by rainfall from the fields into rivers and the water table. It’s not uncommon to have an analysis with acceptable nitrate levels in the summer and then have a failure in the winter. Even though these fluctuations occur, we recommend that you operate your nitrate system throughout the year as protection.

Each unit comes with a Clack metered valve to ensure that the full capacity of the resin is exhausted before a regeneration occurs. Regeneration will only occur when the unit doesn’t have the capacity to get through the next 24 hours, saving on the running cost of salt.

The unit will raise the levels of chloride in both the treated water and backwash water, as the nitrate ions are exchanged for chloride ions during the regeneration process. All nitrate reduction units require access to a drain or soak away where this water does not find itself
reintroduced into the water table.

Our nitrate reduction systems will lower the nitrate levels between 80 – 85%, this needs to be taken into account when specifying the treatment system.
