NITRATE REDUCTION RESINS

Ion Exchange Resins

Nitrate Reduction resin is designed to remove increased levels of nitrates in raw water. It does this through ion exchange, replacing the nitrate in the water with chloride molecules that come from regular softener salt (Sodium Chloride.)

Working in the same vein as softener resin, capacity is calculated using the total volume of resin, and will need to be regenerated when that capacity is reached with a brine solution.

Watex would always recommend a metered control valve when using Nitrate reduction resin, to limit wasted salt usage and keep running costs down. Nitrates become increased due to them leaching into the water table form the natural surroundings. Farmland is fertilised, and then washed away.

Because nitrate media uses Ion exchange, so it will need to include a brine tank.
